The 2012 Nibiru question relates to whether or not a hitherto undiscovered planet is going to pass in close proximity to the Earth causing untold catastrophe. People that believe this hypothesis suggest that it is a celestial body which, as like all planets, has a fixed cycle. This orbit brings it in proximity to our world every’00 years causing massive planetary disruptions such as earthquakes, tsunamis, super volcanoes, as well as a pole shift. These events and their knock on effects are predicted to wipe out literally billions of people.

The belief in such a planet and theory can be dated back to the ancient Sumerians that lived around 36,000 years ago in what is now Iraq. They created the name Nibiru for a planet that they depicted in their cuneiform tablets. It has been given many other names since that time including: Nemeses, Planet X, Marduke, the Winged Globe, Wormwood, and also the Tenth Planet.

It isn’t just the Sumerians that predicted a global event occurring in 2012; it is a theme in a number of other cultures. Many people associate the year 2012 with the Mayan people that lived in South America. They used very different forms of calendars based upon huge astronomical cycles.

The Mayan calendar that is relevant to 2012 is the long-count calendar. This is calculated to come to an end on 21st December 2012 and it would be the end of the fourth great cycle. Many people have suggested that the significance of this is more spiritual than physical as the Mayans state that it will be the dawn of the Golden Age, a time of great evolution of consciousness.

Any prophecy or theory is not a fact until it actually is proven correct. If in 2012 another planet does appear in our sky then it is almost impossible to fathom the consequences, its effect will be so widespread.

The earth is a living organism; it has always changed and evolved. There have been times when gigantic ice sheets covered half of North America and Europe, and before the modern age there were earthquakes and tsunamis that are above anything we have ever experienced. It is also known that there have been polar shifts before. Why these events occurred can only be speculated open.

Many scientists now suggest that our Sun is a major factor in the physical changes that occur on our World. Solar and electromagnetic activity reaching us from the Sun can have the most widespread consequences. It may even be the case that global warming is due to solar events and not man made pollution. There are people who believe that Nibiru is actually a brown dwarf or twin star to our own and that we live in a binary system.

At the end of the day one might ask, “Is there anything I can do to prepare for such an event?”
If there is a celestial body going to make an appearance in 2012, the answer is yes I would
try to be as prepared as with any catastrophe. If you are able, some people think there are geographical places that are safer than others, you might feel better living in one of these places. There are even communities who were formed with just this event in mind. I would try to learn as much as I can about all the events of 2012 so as to have a better understanding. Or you can just put it out of your mind and if it happens it happens. I know some folks have this idea. It’s up to you.
