The Red Violin: This multi-episode film follows the destiny of a hexed violin from 17th-century Italy to 18th century Vienna, 19th century England, 20th-century China and present day Montreal. The tales are mainly downbeat and or aggravating, and the finish up part with appraiser Jackson is difficult to swallow. Colorful locales and enthralling premises sustain limited interest all the way through. Barry Lyndon: This film is an attractive, methodically detailed period piece with megastar O’Neal as Thackeray’s 18th-century Irish rogue idol who desires prosperity however lets it go to his head. The film is long, intentionally slow although on no account uninteresting. Cast includes Patrick Magee, Hardy Kruger, Steven Berkoff, Gay Hamilton, Murray Melvin, Frank Middlernass, and Andre Morell. Trade: A thirteen-year-old gal is kidnapped by members of a sex-trafficking ring. As her older brother follows her tracks, he hooks up with a Texas cop (Kline) who has his own rationales for chasing this outfit of bad guys. This downbeat drama reveals a stunning, debasing circumstance, although it’s maddeningly choppy, one second daring and commanding (particularly with Finnish actress Bachleda) and the next remarkably corny. Shack Out on 101: Lee Marvin is a cook named Slob at a seaside greasy spoon in this cold war classic. The waitress (Terry Moore) seems to be spending most of her time fending off the lecherous advances of almost all her co-stars, but in fact she is trying to stop nuclear secrets from leaving the country. This is positively a one of a kind film, with most of the action taking place on a lone shabby set. Cast includes Terry Moore, Frank Lovejoy, Lee Marvin, Keenan Wynn, and Whit Bissell. (90 minutes, 1955)

Daniel: A phenomenal adaptation of E. L. Doctorow’s The Novel of Daniel, about Julius and Ethel Rosenberg who encounter discrimination due to their heritage in order learn to handle their own lives in the difficult 1960s. Not without its imperfections, however overall a seductive and incredibly well-made film. Cast includes Timothy Hullon, Mandy Patinkin, Lindsay Crouse, Edward Asner, Ellen Barkin, Julie Bovasso, Tovah Feldshuh, Joseph Leon, Amanda Plummer, and John Rubinstein. (130 minutes, 1983)

Stage Door Canteen: A wartime tale of romance between cadet and hostess at N.Y.C.’s fabled canteen is filled with cameos, walk-ons, talks, and lyrical numbers by a remarkable battery of megastars, containing Katharine Hepburn, Harpo Marx, Paul Muni, Helen Hayes, Benny Goodman, Tally Basie, and Edgar Bergen. Cast includes Cast includes Chery Stroller, Wiliam Terry, MaIjorie Riordan, Lon McCallister, Margaret Eary, and Michael Harrison (Sundown Carson). (132 minutes, 1943)

Air Force 1: This movie is a supercharged thriller in regards to aggressive Kazakhstani alarmists taking over Delta one and keeping the President, his family, and his entourage prisoner in midair. This film is an extreme, brutal, nail biting popcorn fodder movie, anchored by Ford as a 2 fisted president who’s not scared to get physical. Cast includes Harrison Ford, Gary Oldman, Glenn Close, Dean Stockwell, Wendy Crewson, Paul Guilfoyle, William H. Rhapsody in August: Average (by his own estimations) little Kurosawa is a piece in reference to the hurtful memories of a Japanese woman who recollects the bombing of Nagasaki at the end of WW2. Gere, in a hyped up cameo, doesn’t appear too out of place as a Japanese American member of the old lady’s lengthened family. Cast includes Sachiko Murase, Richard Gere, and Narumi Kayashima. (98 minutes, 1991)
